Most electrical work starts with a plan drawn on the back of a quote. We think that's too late. The design stage is where we make decisions about circuit layout, lighting placement, switchboard capacity, EMF exposure, power quality, and long-term flexibility. These decisions are cheap to change on paper and very expensive to fix after the walls are closed.
Our electrical design service is available as a standalone consultation for new builds, major renovations, or any project where the electrical environment really matters. It's also the first stage of every Healthy Electrical engagement, because without proper design, even the best installation is just tidy compliance work.
We work with architects, builders, and owner-builders to produce a coordinated electrical design that integrates with the structure, the lifestyle, and the long-term goals for the space.
What's included
Site assessment & brief
We walk the site, or review plans for new builds, to understand how the space is intended to be used, and document the client brief: lifestyle, priorities, budget, and any Healthy Electrical considerations.
Circuit layout design
Circuit planning that accounts for load distribution, future-proofing, and minimising EMF in key areas like bedrooms and living rooms. We design circuits that are logical, safe, and built for how the space will actually be used.
Lighting design
Position, type, colour temperature, dimming capability, and control zones, all considered together. For Healthy Electrical projects, we design lighting systems that support circadian rhythms: energising in the morning, melatonin-safe at night.
Switchboard & power design
Switchboard sizing and layout for current load and future capacity. We plan for EV charging, heat pumps, split systems, high-draw wellness equipment (saunas, cold plunge), and anything else on the horizon.
Network & data design
For EMF-conscious clients, we plan hardwired Cat6 infrastructure throughout the home or building, delivering fast, reliable connectivity without the constant RF emission of a wireless network running 24/7 in your living space.
Design documentation
A clear set of design drawings and specifications that can be used for quoting, council approval where required, and as the installation reference document. No ambiguity. No guessing on-site.
